II urges the APA to reconsider the use of the term “intellectual developmental disorder”
In a letter sent to American Psychiatric Association (APA) Inclusion International has expressed its concern about their proposal to use the term “intellectual developmental disorder” to replace “mental retardation” in the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) to be published in May 2013. II is urging the APA to use the internationally accepted term “intellectual disability”. Click here to read the letter.
