Roland Tamraz
Roland Tamraz
Roland Tamraz started his commitments towards the persons with intellectual disabilities at the age of 19 when he was at university in Montreal- Canada.
He was then able to commit himself in the communities of "The Arch" where people with intellectual disabilities live together with benevolent helpers in small "homes" where they share everything, the joys, the pains, the family life, the weekend outings etc...
Actually, He is the godfather of a young down syndrome adolescent and the general
Manager of one of the most important network of services in intellectual disability in
Lebanon named" Al Zawrak" and he remains firmly committed to the defence of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and the promotion of equal opportunities.
In 1990, he co-founded with Dr.Moussa Charaffedine and other people the Lebanese platform of parents' associations and associations of services D.N.A.P.L.E.! (Inclusion Lebanon). He has also become the Vice-President of Inclusion Lebanon.
Recently, in October 2005, he was chosen as a member of Inclusion International’s Council and Officer of the Middle East Region and as such in the newly formed
Council of the Middle East Region.
