2008 GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Inclusion International General Assembly is held every two years. The purpose of the General Assembly is to elect or re-elect Officers and Councillors, establish the general policies and procedures of Inclusion International, review all actions and decisions of the Council, and serve as final court of appeal on all matters respecting the rights of the members. The meeting of the Assembly is open to anyone who wishes to attend. However only Official delegates (1 per Member National Society) will be able to raise their voice and vote. 

At this year’s meeting, the General Assembly will be required to:

(I) Elect a President-Elect to take office as President in 2010. This position is presently vacant.
(II)Elect a Treasurer. Fred Heddell has served a total of eight years and is ineligible for re-election as Treasurer.
(III)Re-elect the President for a further two years. Diane Richler has served as President for six years and is eligible for re-election for a final term to 2010.
(IV)Re-elect the Secretary-General for a further two years. Ralph Jones has served two years and is eligible for re-election for a second term to 2010.

We invite all Member National Societies of Inclusion International to make nominations for two vacant positions, President-Elect and Treasurer. Please use the attached form to make your nominations. Please note that only paying members will be entitled to vote. If you have not received the call for fee for 2008 please get in touch with the Administrative office on info@inclusion-international.org .

The next GA of Inclusion International will be part of the Global Forum on Inclusion 2008: 'Transforming Rights into actions' co-hosted by CACL and Inclusion International. The Events of the GlobalForum will take place in Ottawa, Canda from 17-21 Nov, 2008. This event will  engage self-advocates, families, activists, professionals and partners from around the world. It will be focused on the new UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and will look at how to transform rights into actions that lead to full inclusion and citizenship for people with intellectual disabilities.
