CONGRATULATIONS TO PENTRU VOI

Inclusion International would like to congratulate Pentru Voi on the award received for their inspiring initiative. Read the message from Laila Onu, Director of Pentru Voi. Dear all,
I am delighted to inform you that our project “Different but together” has won the competition for the award Handinnov Europe 2008 for Romania. The prize is awarded to organizations having introduced exemplary practices in Member states enhancing the social inclusion of young disabled people in school, university, working life and society in its broadest sense. Organized within the framework of the French Presidency of the EU, in cooperation with the European Disability Forum, the fifth Handinnov competition has awarded 1 organization per Member State of the European Union – 27 awards in total.
Through the project “Different but Together”, financed by OSMHI, we developed our employment program. Now we have 86 persons with intellectual disabilities employed: 33 on the open market and 53 in our social enterprise. This project has also won the Award of the year at the Romanian Civil Society Gala 2008.
The prize from Handinnov competition will give the opportunity to a self advocate from our organization to participate in various events and meetings that are organized for the winners during the French Presidency of the European Union, in Paris 26-28 November.
We are proud and happy for this success and we hope that this will inspire the policy makers from Romania and EU in disseminating our example of good practice and give real opportunities to employment for people with intellectual disabilities.
