Kadi (right) at the II seminar on Inclusive Education, Mali 2002 |
Kadi was President of Inclusion Africa and the Indian Ocean and a Council member of Inclusion International at the time of her death. Kadi has been a key parent leader in Mali and throughout Africa. She created an association of people with learning disabilities in Mali that she run for the last 20 years, called Amaldeme. This association is now employing about 90 people and has been an example of good practice for many other associations of people with learning disabilities in Western Africa.
Everyone who met Kadi was inspired by her energy, commitment, accomplishments and charm. We will miss her.
Kadi’s funeral will take place in Bamako, Mali. OBITUARY Dear Friends, Indeed, it is sad news.
Rosalie phoned me from Ouagadougou as soon as she was informed that Kadi had left us. As all of us who know the Lady from West Africa ( the past tense is inappropriate ), I am under her charm . When we first met many years ago in Mauritius, her personality in the adversity that was her life reminded me, to this day, of Kahlil Gibran's words, that " ... one's pain is the beaking of the shell that contains one's understanding ... " How beautifully understanding she has always been towards those who have walked by her side, even so briefly, on the many paths of Life ! We share the grief of all those, unknown to us, who are dear to her and who love her. May she be an icon for us in Inclusion International and may her example guide our futute action.
Sincerely,
Yves Giraud Président APEIM Mauritius - île Maurice Dear Friends, I don't know how one gets through to her family - but I guess we are family as well in a singular but significant way. I met Kadi first some years ago and admired her energy and youthful continance. WOW - what a remarkable woman. We worked many years to finally get a seminar on inclusive education to happen in Mali. Again it was an inspiration to see her at work in her own country - and to see her school and effort to make things happen for children with disabilities. We had a great seminar with representatives from 6-7 countries in West Africa. Kadi and Rosalie did remarkable work under great challenges. It certainly makes me keep perspective on the challenges I face in my country. It was an honor to get to know her and an even greater honor to have worked wih her and been part of "her" team - to try in some small way to accomlish some of the goals she set. She will be missed and I am sure not replaced. Our prayers for her and her family.

Dear Mrs,
It is a great loss for the Inclusion Movement and RBC. May God give us strength in these moments of pain to continue this massive construction that is the promotion of the people with disabilities in order to honour her memory.
On behalf of the whole Handicap International Togo Team, I would like to send you and her family my deepest sympathies.
Union of prayers
