The race to be among the first 20 countries to ratify the Convention is on!

Jordan: the Parliament has nearly completed the process of ratification Argentina: one house of parliament has ratified and it is under consideration in the other house. Trinidad & Tobago: the process may not need Parliamentary approval, so it could possibly be decided by the Executive Tunisia: the national Parliament has ratified and sent it to the President Honduras: it is under consideration in Parliament New Zealand: the government is focused on domestic legislation because of upcoming elections, but letters may help Germany: they have a strong interest in ratifying, but the process may take longer. NGO pressure could help Tanzania: the government is supportive, so pressure may help Costa Rica: a trade agreement with USA (CAFTA) seem to have higher priority but pressure for DPOs and others may help Mozambique: as reported in the ENABLE Newsletter, could be a possibility
The current list of 17 States Parties are from the following regions: 7 are from Latin America and the Caribbean 4 are from Africa 2 from Asia 2 from Eastern Europe 2 from WEOG (Western Europe and Other Group)
